Tagtype: A Graffiti Inspired Typeface

I designed this typeface as a continuation from my typographic essay to build upon the story. While taking photos of interesting typography in my hometown, Medicine Hat, I had noticed a lot of the photos that I had taken were of graffiti. There are 3 types of graffiti lettering in particular that I took as inspiration for creating my typeface:

Graffiti tag - Usually written with marker or spray paint and in one color, which is sharply contrasted with its background.
Pieces - Drawn forms with outlines, fills & often 3D effects, backgrounds & themes
Tag- A stylized and personal signature
Stencil- Used with a stencil as such, it is easy to replicate images and also easy to put them up quickly
Preliminary work required us to explore our surroundings and collect a variety of rubbings that capture, texture and personality within letterforms. I scanned the rubbings that I had gathered and digitalized them as if they were a font online. This inspired me to recreate texture from the graffiti written on walls.
